The Garden

Two of the three community garden projects, in this cluster off Russell Road, are located on disused railway platforms at Kensington Olympia Station. Two kitchen gardens provide growing spaces in raised beds for Kensington and Chelsea residents and the third is a market garden project - Cultivating Kensington & Chelsea. Here, volunteers and the council's community gardeners run some small glass houses to raise seedlings to sell to both kitchen garden plot-holders and the public. Network Rail have generously allowed platforms to be used for the kitchen gardens, part of a wider ten-year-old community gardening scheme. Access is from Russell Road, on the opposite side of the railway from Olympia exhibition centre.
