The Garden

This award-winning community food garden brings diverse groups together to create a thriving haven for local residents. A resident-led committee rescued the site and, with Lottery support, it boasts 40 raised beds valued by families, schoolchildren and a daycare centre. Asian and unusual vegetables grow alongside a fruit orchard, wildlife area and pond, native hedgerow, bug hotels, nectar bars, wildflower meadow, bat boxes and ivy walls for bees. It won Silver in the 2018 London in Bloom Awards (Thriving garden category) and the Best Community Garden and Best Wildlife (Group) in the Tower Hamlets in Bloom Awards and was crowned Overall Group Winner.
