The Garden

Lincoln's Inn was founded in or before 1422. Its magnificent lawns and trees make up six separate gardens - North Gardens, Benchers' Lawns and Border, New Square, Kitchen Garden, Gatehouse Court and Stone Buildings. Trees include 26 heritage plane trees, mulberries and a majestic Paulownia tomentosa. Following a three-year £26m development of the Great Hall and Library buildings, the area around the Great Hall has been transformed and now includes an exotic terrace of hardy palms and a long border which mixes formal elements with a contemporary twist. The newly planted woodland-style area is a tapestry of shade-loving plants and spring bulbs.
