Fenton House at the top of Hampstead's Holly Hill features extensive walled gardens, with formal walks and lawns, a sunken rose garden, kitchen garden and a 300-year-old orchard. On the upper level, south of the house, a wide path runs from a wrought-iron gate alongside mature heritage trees and mixed border with large drifts of herbaceous planting. To the north are terrace walks around a formal lawn and sunken rose garden. Relaxed planting among yew and box hedges ensures year-round colour and interest. Steps beyond the rose garden lead to a sunken, walled orchard area, glasshouse, culinary herb border, flower beds and vegetables.
