Packing for any holiday requires a lot of time. So there’s much to consider, from essentials like toiletries to non-essentials like extra pairs of shoes.
But when it comes to a caravan holiday, it’s even more important to be mindful of what you’re going to take with you.
A caravan holiday won’t be anything like a conventional holiday with hotel rooms and swimming pools. Here, you have to bring your supplies.
But even then, many people love to travel in a caravan simply because it’s a refreshing change. In 2021, more than 3.5 million caravan trips were made in New South Wales, Australia.
So, if you’re also planning a caravan trip, here are some essentials you must not forget!
First, you must carry some basic cooking equipment with you. In most luxury caravans, such as the ones sold by Lotus Caravans, essentials like pots, pans, and microwaves are almost always provided.
But other items like kitchen sponges, towels, and dishwashing soap might not exist.
Even tea bags, coffee beans, and sugar pouches won’t exist. So if you’re a heavy tea or coffee drinker, carry these items.
Most people always carry a small pouch of toiletries when they travel, but if you’re not one of them, you must prepare one before your trip.
Your bathroom essentials bag will contain travel-sized bottles of face wash, shampoo, body wash, moisturizer, and conditioner.
Other than this, you can also carry extra items like a bath loofah or scented oils. Also, be sure to carry enough towels in case the one you’ve used takes too much time to dry and sunscreen for skin protection.
Toilet rolls are a must-have on a caravan trip. You never know when you’ll run out of them and whether you’ll be able to find a nearby store.
Most caravan trips are often taken in the wild, which means that you won’t get any supermarkets to buy extra toilet paper rolls from. This is why it’s always best to carry more than you require.
Additionally, you should also bring a packet of toilet seat covers and a small rug to keep the area clean.
A first-aid kit is a must, even if you’re not going on a caravan trip. It will not only help you to heal minor injuries but can even save your or someone else’s life in extreme cases.
You’ll find many kits available in local pharmacy stores or even supermarts, but most of them cost quite a bit.
So, if you have a few items at home, you can make your own kit. It should ideally contain bandages, band-aids, ointments for burn injuries and cuts, iodine solution, cotton balls, and your daily medication.
Carrying a few extra clothes is never a bad idea, especially if you’re traveling with children. You never know when the weather might turn rainy or too cold.
But other than that, you should pack some swimwear, raincoats, jackets, and loose T-shirts. Of course, the rest of your clothes will depend on the weather of the place you’re visiting.
If the caravan is air-conditioned, it might be a good idea to pack some thick pajamas for the night. Otherwise, you can keep your usual nightclothes.
Keep a few items you can use during the holiday to keep you occupied and entertained.
However, if you’re going to a place that might not have an internet connection, you should pre-download your favorite series and movies.
Some electronic gadgets you should carry with you are your iPad, iPod, and portable DVD player.
If you like to read or do something else during your leisure, you can always carry a few books or sketching essentials like a drawing pad and some pencils.
Miscellaneous items are those that don’t really fall under a specific category. For example, remember to carry a night lamp in case the caravan lights stop working in the middle of the night.
Also, remember to carry a set of batteries and a power bank to recharge any gadget or your phone.
If there are kids with you, bring some soft toys to keep them entertained without exhausting your phone battery. Also, carry foldable chairs if you want to sit outside the caravan.
These are a few of the most important things that you have to take care of in your travel checklist. So the next time you’re planning for a caravan vacation, keep this article in mind!
